5 Ways to Engage Clients After a Pandemic
After these past 20 months during the pandemic, there probably have been changes in your community and your organization. Now is the time to re-engage with your clients both virtually and in person. Your organization can re-engage with your clients by making introductions, being present, listening, acting, and inviting.
Making Introductions
Your organization should introduce itself to the community. This introduction should happen both online and in person. Introduce your organization in social media posts. Explain your mission and what you have been doing during the pandemic. You can also introduce new staff or volunteers. This can also be done in person at a community event. Making introductions to your clients can create trust and help get the word out to new clients.
Being Present
Being present is like making introductions in that you want to be present at community events, both online and in the community. Be at community events and participate in online webinars and presentations. Be where your clients are so you create visibility for your organization within the community.
Listening
To re-engage with your clients, you should also listen to them. Their needs or priorities have probably changed. You should listen to see what is happening in their lives so that you can better serve them. There are different ways of listening. You could have a listening session, you could have a questionnaire, or you could set up interviews.
Acting
Now that you have listened to your clients, you must analyze the information you received and act on that information. It might mean that you will have to create new programs or make adjustments to already existing programs. It might mean you will have to develop new systems or communication methods. It might mean many things for your organization, but you should act on the information you receive from your clients to show them that their input matters. Your organization needs to change to engage with your clients “new” normal.
Inviting
You should also invite your clients to share their needs and participate in your organization where possible. Your clients can volunteer in different ways. For example, maybe your clients learned something new during the pandemic that they can now contribute to your organization, or maybe your clients would like an internship or volunteer opportunity to learn specific skills. Your clients can engage in your organization by volunteering and helping your organization either in person or virtually.
This pandemic has affected all of us, and your organization should take this opportunity to re-engage with your clients. It will help your organization understand your clients’ lives, what services are needed, and what changes need to be made. In addition, re-engaging with your clients will help your organization better serve your community and fulfill its mission.
